The New Year

And in the blink of an eye another year has gone by! Gooooooodbye 2017 and hello 2018! Reflecting back – 2017 has been a crazy busy year in both amazing and not so amazing ways. I am going to share with you some of my 2017 highlights, and some things I want to work on this next year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR beautiful people! I hope this year blesses you tremendously  🙂

2017 highlights!

The self confidence to start this blog – The idea of a “blog” and sharing my ideas, opinions, beliefs, personal life, advice, faith, and fashion has been something I have been wanting to do ever since I was in eighth grade and on tumblr until two in the morning  (Don’t even try and tell me you aren’t guilty of this too!!!) But at the age of 13 I knew I wanted to share these things with other people and connect with others in that way; but I had no idea how I could, what that would really look like on a formal and organizational level, and honestly; I was scared people wouldn’t care, I was scared people would judge me. Letting go of these fears, the anxiety about judgement and what people might think, is a decision a made that benefitted not only this blog – but myself! This decision to live my life the way I want to, letting go of the worry of what other people will think is a decision I wake up and make everyday. This decision is what gave me the confidence and belief in myself to share my heart with you guys and I am so very thankful for that.

Finding my identity in Christ and Christ alone –

“I stand upon the solid rock
Of faith in Christ
This steadfast hope shall not
Break apart within the trial
I am assured
His promises will never fail
As long as life remains
He is faithful”

This is a verse from possibly my favorite song this year – Elohim by Hillsong United and I think it puts into words how secure I am in Christ, and how truly that is the only thing we can ever be totally secure in. How crazy is that?

“Because God has made us for Himself, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him” -Saint Augustine

God is faithful. My hope in that will never run out, and it is that hope that keeps me going and gives me purpose.

Friendships that will last a lifetime – This one really explains itself. In this past year I know that the people I have in my life (You know who you are) are my BIGGEST blessing. I couldn’t go a day without these people and am so thankful the Lord let our paths cross.

Moving out of home- EEEEK! Growing up, going to college, moving out, is all so crazy. I love living by my campus, having my own space, getting to decorate however I’d like, and living with my best friend (another huge blessing in my life.) Not seeing my parents or my siblings everyday truly does make me cherish the time I have with them at home. Thank God for iPhones and FaceTime so I can still see and talk to them everyday, but nothing can replace living with them!!

My best friend got married… AHH!

Learning when I need “me time” and listening to myself – It is my extroverted personality that makes me by nature thrive to be around others. But I also need my quiet and alone time daily!!! I learned that this year that to stay sane I need to take time everyday away from my phone and others just to sit with my Bible and devotionals, or listen to worship music.

2018 – Things I want to work on

Continue to grow in my faith

Be the best friend I can be to the people I care so much about, be a gracious sister and role model for my siblings

Praying in the car and using that as quiet time instead of listening to rap music and jamming out on the way to work… 🙂

Focusing less on my grades in classes and more on actually learning

Self confidence – acceptance in that none of us are born to perfect

EATING MORE VEGGIES – so cliche, but seriously…

2018 – Things I am excited for

Kicking off the new year in Florida with my favorite people

Starting to take classes for my major at UST

Spring break in Arizona – I have never been there before and cannot wait!!!

Making more memories with my best friends, spending time at home with my family

Another year of birthdays and celebrating the people I love, and I turn 21 this year – wow!

Happy Friday my favorite people, I swear as it gets colder and colder outside the weeks feel longer and longer. I am definitely ready for the weekend and to bundle up by my christmas tree and drink eggnog all weekend long… 🙂

Today I am sharing with you five random things in my life I have been loving lately!

this free people scarf – I have literally been eyeing this since it hit the sales floor at Nordstrom. It is BEAUTIFUL and so soft – but at almost $50 for the scarf its a splurge item for me. I am finally going to pull the trigger this weekend and get it, I think I will wear it all the time! It matches my favorite winter beanie, I can wear it with my winter jacket, or as a wrap over a cute dress, or with a striped T and a cardigan! I have seen this scarf all over instagram on bloggers and can’t wait to add it to my collection.

from a J crew ad! (everything about their site and all their clothes is so amazing) I love the mix of patterns here and how it is so simple but yet chic, and classic. Plus – leopard anything I absolutely lovvvvvve ❤ A cheetah clutch is definitely on my wishlist!

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset

Check out my shoes… I told you I love cheetah print! I am all about layering especially when its chilly out and I love how layering different ways creates such different looks in every outfit. I love this striped dress because there are literally a trillion different ways to style it! Today I wore it with this turtle neck over it – I love the way the stripes look with the sleeve length of the sweater. I could also wear this scarf with some tights and booties and throw on a cute blanket scarf! Ill share with y’all next time I style this dress differently! I’d wear this look out to dinner with my gals, or to work!

Anything festive for Christmas I absolutely adore. Classic red, white, and green are my favorite colors to decorate with! This is not a picture of my home  (although I wish it was) I found this beautifully styled kitchen pic from pinterest, along with so much other holiday inspo! Follow me on pinterest if you don’t already – I am an avid “pinner” and find inspiration on there for all the different areas in my life!

Another pinterest find that I published to my “words” page. This one made me think about all the issues we have in our world, how if we aren’t “outraged” and I don’t mean this in a violent way at all – but if we don’t question and evaluate the many disturbing, unfair, and degrading things going on around us – we really aren’t paying attention. Pay attention. Help others. Voice your opinion. Stand up for what you believe in. There are things to be “outraged” about pretty much around every corner. Stand up for inequality, for women’s rights, whatever you’re passionate about, show the world you’re paying attention and voice your opinion!

I love you guys who come to read my little corner of the internet. ❤ Happy weeeeeekend!

O T H E R Q U O T E S F A V E S

Happy hump day ladies! I don’t know about you but for the past couple weeks I have been battling a cold and struggling with midterms in school, leaving me feeling not as energized or confident. Whether its a cold, school, or something else you are struggling with right now – here are some reminders from the Lord to warm your heart and remind you that you are loved.

I feel I am called to share my faith – it is something that brings me joy in the world like no other. So, it is so special to me to have conversations with you guys about your faith! Know I am always here to talk, to pray for you, or to send some encouragement your way!

Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive. Matthew 21 22

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. James 4 8

You are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you. Isaiah 43 4

Let us not love with words or speech, but with actions and in truth. 1 John 3 18

He fills my life with good things. Psalm 103 5

But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. 1 Peter 3 14

He reached down from heaven and rescued me; He drew me out of deep waters. Psalm 18 16

Perhaps this is the moment for which you have been created. Esther 4 14

One last reminder.. “never let an earthly circumstance disable you spiritually.” My cold and worrying about school and the three tests I had last week are nothing more than earthly circumstances. These are things I must endure and may not enjoy going through the trial of being stressed, worried, and losing a couple hours of sleep – but in the grand scheme of things, these earthly things should not disable or get in the way of my faith. Nothing should.

Let go, and let GOD.

Have an amazing rest of the week.

You are loved!

Writing to you late night on this Wednesday, avoiding my homework, because there are SO many amazing trends and clothing items out there that you need in your life NOWWWWW!!! Honestly, I am always drawn more towards classic pieces that I know I can wear for years to come – tailored blouses, florals, classic dark wash skinnies, structured jackets, etc. But lately, I haven’t been able to resist many of the amazing trends out there! Fashion is the coolest thing because it is always evolving and always changing. Thats why I love it, and why I have been buying more trendy pieces, and mixing them with my classics so my looks are still my style. Hope you love these things as much as I do! Try a new trend you normally wouldn’t – you might just stumble across your new favorite shirt!

Message me if you want any of the links. XO B

Plaid is a classic, but the lines and sleeves of this shirt make it so unique and up to trend! I love how the model has it tucked, I would so wear it like that!
