And in the blink of an eye another year has gone by! Gooooooodbye 2017 and hello 2018! Reflecting back – 2017 has been a crazy busy year in both amazing and not so amazing ways. I am going to share with you some of my 2017 highlights, and some things I want to work on this next year!
HAPPY NEW YEAR beautiful people! I hope this year blesses you tremendously 🙂
The self confidence to start this blog – The idea of a “blog” and sharing my ideas, opinions, beliefs, personal life, advice, faith, and fashion has been something I have been wanting to do ever since I was in eighth grade and on tumblr until two in the morning (Don’t even try and tell me you aren’t guilty of this too!!!) But at the age of 13 I knew I wanted to share these things with other people and connect with others in that way; but I had no idea how I could, what that would really look like on a formal and organizational level, and honestly; I was scared people wouldn’t care, I was scared people would judge me. Letting go of these fears, the anxiety about judgement and what people might think, is a decision a made that benefitted not only this blog – but myself! This decision to live my life the way I want to, letting go of the worry of what other people will think is a decision I wake up and make everyday. This decision is what gave me the confidence and belief in myself to share my heart with you guys and I am so very thankful for that.
Finding my identity in Christ and Christ alone –
“I stand upon the solid rock
Of faith in Christ
This steadfast hope shall not
Break apart within the trial
I am assured
His promises will never fail
As long as life remains
He is faithful”
This is a verse from possibly my favorite song this year – Elohim by Hillsong United and I think it puts into words how secure I am in Christ, and how truly that is the only thing we can ever be totally secure in. How crazy is that?
“Because God has made us for Himself, our hearts are restless until they rest in Him” -Saint Augustine
God is faithful. My hope in that will never run out, and it is that hope that keeps me going and gives me purpose.
Friendships that will last a lifetime – This one really explains itself. In this past year I know that the people I have in my life (You know who you are) are my BIGGEST blessing. I couldn’t go a day without these people and am so thankful the Lord let our paths cross.
Moving out of home- EEEEK! Growing up, going to college, moving out, is all so crazy. I love living by my campus, having my own space, getting to decorate however I’d like, and living with my best friend (another huge blessing in my life.) Not seeing my parents or my siblings everyday truly does make me cherish the time I have with them at home. Thank God for iPhones and FaceTime so I can still see and talk to them everyday, but nothing can replace living with them!!
My best friend got married… AHH!
Learning when I need “me time” and listening to myself – It is my extroverted personality that makes me by nature thrive to be around others. But I also need my quiet and alone time daily!!! I learned that this year that to stay sane I need to take time everyday away from my phone and others just to sit with my Bible and devotionals, or listen to worship music.
2018 – Things I want to work on
Continue to grow in my faith
Be the best friend I can be to the people I care so much about, be a gracious sister and role model for my siblings
Praying in the car and using that as quiet time instead of listening to rap music and jamming out on the way to work… 🙂
Focusing less on my grades in classes and more on actually learning
Self confidence – acceptance in that none of us are born to perfect
EATING MORE VEGGIES – so cliche, but seriously…
2018 – Things I am excited for
Kicking off the new year in Florida with my favorite people
Starting to take classes for my major at UST
Spring break in Arizona – I have never been there before and cannot wait!!!
Making more memories with my best friends, spending time at home with my family
Another year of birthdays and celebrating the people I love, and I turn 21 this year – wow!
